Have any of you ever reported a business to the Better Business Bureau or the board of realtors, etc. ? I would like to report a bad realtor and a scamming septic system company to someone but I have been told by some people that those businesses only protect each other and it won't do any good. I am not looking for a law suit but I do want to report my experiences with some dishonest companies.

Walnut Des Moines, Iowa 50319 While remediations for incidents vary per individual state legislation-and range from litigation to mediation, and everything in between-whenever there's a perception that a realtor has acted unjustly, the first action to be taken by a consumer who feels that they have been treated unfairly should always be in the form of a formal real estate agent complaint. While methods for filing a real estate agent complaint do vary from state to state, generally speaking, the best way in which to submit a complaint about a realtor's conduct is through their licensing board. Each state has its own licensing authority, and they should each have a web site online, through which you can access their forms and procedures for filing a complaint. In most cases, you should expect to fill out a standardized form with information such as the names of the parties, the property address to which the complaint is being addressed and specific complaint details. You might also need to be prepared to write a letter explaining the situation. Complaints should be mailed to the appropriate real estate licensing authorities; they will then forward it on to any additional parties to the complaint, if need be. Again, details on this may be found at each individual state's real estate licensing board web site. Once the state licensing board has received your complaint, they will typically open a file on both sides of the transaction. The entire transaction will be reviewed, in detail, from both angles to determine if and where there had been any misconduct. (This often goes well beyond the initial complaint, and if they exist, this process will discover problems on either side of the transaction, regardless of which side of the party has issued the complaint.) In some instances, if there is evidence of wrongdoing on the part of a realtor, they will face any one of several punishments, ranging from fines to losing their license-and beyond, depending on the severity of the crime. In other instances, the case may be referred to mediation or litigation in order to be handled by a neutral third party. Again, the procedures will vary by state, but this is a good general idea of what to expect when sending in a realtor complaint. Keep in mind that just like any other legal transaction, it's important throughout a real estate purchase to take detailed notes of correspondence and events that transpire. Good advice, Admin. I suspect the Better Business Bureau sounds good but is not effective. Hasset, you might try this link as well. It might have information that will help you prepare. www.iowarealtors.com/legalI don't know how Iowa works, but I do know here in Minnesota the licensing board takes a very dim view of unethical and/or illegal activities. I am licensed as a Landscape Architect along with the architects, engineers and land surveyors by a state licensing board. I received my quarterly newsletter last week and once again six or seven people were disciplined ranging from $1,100 fines to suspension of licenses. Good luck with it all and as the admin suggested make sure you have good documentation.

p.s. ---- If Iowa is like Minnesota, the individual counties regulate and license septic installers and contractors. Hence, you would need to contact your county land or planning and zoning office.

time to ban the spammer, I have seen the exact same msg posted on 2 other boards today, one was flooded with the same post on every active thread that had "business" in the subject. I bet if you poke around that IP you will find a spambot at bejing technology linakge, ltd.

If you google the email, you will see that the email pops up EVERYWHERE. I do not think it is really a person but someone who has figured out how to irritate tons of blogs. If the person was really wanting to sell something, the person would not be posting things like this. You are so right. It is someone from Bejing, I bet. I thought MNDAPA1 took this person off the blog but I still see the person is listed. Does anyone know where MNDAPA1 is? I hope he is o.k. I am worried about him.

I also wonder about mndapa1. I haven't seen anything posted from him in awhile. I hope everything is ok with him. Maybe he is out of town?
