I don't think so. We live on the corner of a t instersection. Both roads are gravel. This morning my neighbor pointed out to me that some time during the night some yahoo had either attempted to turn the corner 50' too soon or had simply lost control of their vehicle. They ran into a large oak on our property and scarred it up pretty badly. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of pieces of the windshield every where. Some flew 30' or more from the impact area. There is also a pop out window still in tact in the yard as well as huge ruts both in and back out of the property. If someone wasn't injured I would be very surprised. Amazingly we didn't hear a thing. I suppose they could have been lubed up and didn't want to call the sheriff or see their insurance rates skyrocket so they simply left the scene. Wherever they left to there is no way they had headlights. Hopefully they learned a valuable lesson.

You would be doing everyone a favor, including the guy who did that, if you would report it to the sheriff. It ought to be easy to find out who did it. There are not many cars around with no windows in them! They need to learn a valuable lesson and that lesson may save a life someday. I don't know how you would clean all that glass out of your yard. I would never go barefooted there again.

Apparently this happened yesterday late afternoon while Mrs. Robely and I were dog walking. I noticed a woman 30 minutes ago driving slowly back and forth observing the scene. I was able to get her to stop and chat. She is having to fill in a report for the sheriff's dept. She knows the two people involved and had to take them to the emergency room yesterday evening. It sounds like the truck is totaled and the entire passenger side caved in. She was stunned that the passenger lived (the husband). It was raining hard and the road gets pretty soggy. They claimed that the wife started fish tailing and lost control. I asked her if they had been drinking and she said no. I have my suspicions. Most everyone has a cell phone these days, so why not call from the scene? At the very least there was excessive speed involved. I think what bothers me is that the couple haven't done the honorable thing and show up to apologize for the damage. The husband apparently required lots of stitches and the wife had an injured hip.
End of story unless the sheriff shows up, but at least it was reported.

What gets me is how people never seem to have to do the clean up. They probably waited until their blood alcohol was lower. That is what they usually do, otherwise they would have reported it at the scene. I hope your yard isn't too bad to clean up.
