Mrs. Valentino and I took a long bike ride on the Paul Bunyan Trail this weekend. What a treasure we have winding through our woods and by our lakes. Now I remember why I still put up with our winters here. This part of the state truly is a blue - green world.
There also is an incredibly beautiful 6 mile or so trail that winds its way around several of the Cuyuna mine pit lakes. It is worth checking out. If you do that be sure to stop in at the Croft Mine Historical Park and take an underground tour or see the one ton copper nugget found on our local range. As our tourism dept. says, "explore Minnesota".

Mr. Hasset and I took a trip to the Des Moines River around the Boneparte and Bentonsport area. It is in the southernmost part of Iowa and hardly has any population so it looks beautiful to me. The woods are mostly deciduous trees and very tall----some pines too. The buildings along the river are old (1840 era) and have been kept up. You would think you were back in the early 1800s. The buildings are on the Nat'. Registry. I think it rates at the top of the list for the prettiest spot on earth! America is beautiful!!!! (everywhere except where the population is too thick!)
