"On his 100th day in office, President Obama will be "crowned" in messianic imagery at New York City's Union Square. Artist Michael D'Antuono's painting "The Truth" – featuring Obama with his arms outstretched and wearing a crown of thorns upon his head – will be unveiled on April 29 at the Square's South Plaza. " I almost lost my supper when I saw this and read the article associated with this piece of toilet paper. Rest here: www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=96138

That made me sick too. I do not like what some people do to the arts. No wonder it is hard for young artists to make money at selling paintings or even get any credibility. If you want to make a living at it, people think you are a little old lady from a painting class on Sunday afternoons (painting flowers in a vace). It is as bad for poets. I could not stand the poet laureate, Maya Angelou. Ted Kooser, from my home town in Iowa (lived next door to my grandmother), was the poet laureate from 2002 -2006. I love his poems because they were about rural life and things I would want to remember or understand. He goes around to schools to try to get kids to like poetry. His is very easy to like--personally and his poems. I could never believe that Clinton actually liked any poetry and spent any time reading it. I thought he was just one big photo op. and it was more big talk.
