Estimates of the effects of the proposed federal climate legislation on electric rates vary. The central thrust of the Waxman-Markey bill is to make carbon-dioxide emissions expensive by capping them and creating allowances that utilities must acquire to function. www.nytimes.com/2009/04/09/us/09coal.html?_r=1&ref=usOh yes...change we can live without...expect your utility billd to skyrocket when this bill passes!!!

www.heritage.org/research/energyandenvironment/wm2585-IA.cfmAugust 19, 2009 Impact of the Waxman-Markey Climate Change Legislation on Iowa by David Kreutzer, Ph.D., Karen Campbell, Ph.D., William W. Beach and Nicolas Loris WebMemo #2585 Iowa Implementing Waxman-Markey would put a chokehold on Iowa's economic potential, reducing gross state product by $4.97 billion in 2035. 2035 sounds like a long way from now but it really isn't. I hope some sensible people are elected by then and all this crap will be dropped. The cost of electricity and gas will go up and I am sure there will be hidden taxes everywhere. What a bunch of dunces for falling for Gore's nonsense! I am sure it isn't just Iowa that will go belly up but all the other states. I just left an all electric house (heat pump for air and heat) and it had been such an economical system but in the last few years we were charged an extra amount and I could see the cost going up. For the thirty years I lived there, I paid so much less for heating/cooling over 3,000 sq. ft. than my neighbor who had a 750 sq. ft. house that was heated with l.p. gas. I think I would get a wood stove and go to burning leaves, branches and garbage and anything that would help out. I suppose the Feds. would come after me for that too.

What a coincidence, I just posted something under "Throwing Copper" about the cost of cap and trade. What in the world is happening in this country? The libtards are running wild and are well on their way to make us a third world country.
