Hahaha,,,, amazing how people 'love' our government. Which really isn't true,,, people just want common sense and responsibility from our government,,whether it is local, state, or federal. Buck,,have you or has anyone else here heard of any town hall meetings coming up ?

I went to a town hall meeting to day. Boy, am I confused! Our representative from the 2nd district of Iowa, Dave Loesbeck, said there would be no rationing of services, no pulling the plug on Grandma, no change in price for insurance, no benefits for illegal aliens, no government funding of abortions, no changes in my private healthcare insurance, no increased taxes to pay for the government run plan, and a bunch of other things I DO NOT BELIEVE. Yes, this guy is a Democrat so I am suspicious to start with.
Some of the people almost got into a fight. People from both sides were there. A lady next to me had a sign that said "Healthcare, thank you, Obama" She asked if I wanted one and I said NO! She wanted it to be seen when the cameras were on her.
To hear Loesbeck talk, it makes me wonder about all the stuff I get in emails all the time. I think I even posted a list of page numbers to look up in that healthcare bill. Somebody is telling fibs, BIGTIME FIBS. Have any of the rest of you gone to one of these meetings? What is the problem with the conflicting information on this healthcare bill? I knew politicians were dishonest but the one I saw today was really one slick talker. I would like to go to one presented by a Republican to see how different the information would be. Someone is not telling the truth. Loesbeck is one smooth talker.

No need to be confused, the Democratic Party has lost its bearing and DOES NOT put principle before party. The track record of these folks is pathetic, hence there is no reason to believe much of what they say. It is strictly about being elected and re-elected. That's what career politicians do.
Now let me guess. The lady next to you had a professionally created sign, am I right? My friends over at Bitter Politicz have been attending meetings all over the country and are reporting that the Obamabots are busing in supporters now with professionally created signs. The average every day Americans who are protesting this trashy bill are creating hand made, impromptu signs. I just wish my rep. would hold a town hall.
By the way, was cubbieblue restrained or somewhat vocal? The question I have is whether a single one of these people embracing government health care have read one darned bit of the bill.

My question to this Representative from the GETGO...Did you read the Bill? And all 1200 pages of it. I would be surprised if he said yes.
Congress votes by reading summaries and rarely ever reads the legislation thaey are voting on. They are in the dark as much of the American public of what is in the bill and echo their phooney in chief.
That is why we make an effort to educate and tell people what is actually in the bill. It is not to scare people, but to make sure they know what is going on....which may turn into a frightening event in itself.
So the facts are the facts. The information that has been posted are the written words of the document. The words of a politician ...are that .... just words. He is worried about re-election more than being truthful.

Yes, the 2nd district includes Johnson county where the University of Iowa and the big hospital is (Iowa City). I have a friend who is a nurse for the University hosptital and she goes with doctors who spend time in surrounding clinics all over the southern part of the state. The doctors all take turns going to clinics in other towns so that people do not have to travel to Iowa City to see a doctor. My friend says she has had long converstations with doctors while they are traveling to and from those other towns. I got the idea that the doctors do not like Obama's health care plan.
I just do not see how people can believe one thing our congressmen say. If you had never heard anything about the healthcare plan, you would have been swayed by smooth talking Loesbeck, but I do not believe a word I heard.
The lady with the sign did have a printed out sign and it was small and could have been printed off of the internet. I have half a notion to see what I can find on some liberal web sites. This was not a tea party where everyone had signs.
Cubbieblue was loud but very restrained. We got some dirty looks but I really think most people there were conservative. The town we are in is more conservative than liberal but we also have a lot of poor people and Mexicans who do not speak English. I suppose they think they are going to get more if they go along with Obama. They may not be voters but then a lot of people vote when they do not qualify. How do those Democrats stand themselves when they know thay lie?

I did not have the correct spelling of Iowa's Rep. Loebsack. I had said it was Loesbeck but I don't think it matters much as he is just as bad with one spelling as another.

I thought you may like to see the hand out sheet that I got at Loebsack's town hall meeting. It sure seems like a good plan. Why are so many of us upset with it? (I tried to cut and paste this thing into this email but my old computer is acting up so much these days. I am trying to add it as an attachment and I have no idea if it will work or not. If it turns out to be a blank page, I have another idea of how to do it.) Attachments:

(this sounds so good. Where is the problem?) Health Care Reform: Myth v Fact (Rep. Loesback, Iowa, from town hall meeting) As your Congressman, my first priority is to listen to the voices of the Second District. I know that there are many concerns regarding health care reform out there, and I am here to answer your health care questions. This month I will host a town hall in each county of the Second District. Below, I have included some facts and figures that will help keep Iowans informed about the health care bill. I urge you to visit my website at loebsack.house.gov/ for more health care updates. Feel free to call me at anytime to voice your concerns at (866) 914-IOWA. The Facts" America's Affordable Health Choices Act (HR 3200) No Discrimination for Pre-Existing Conditions, like diabetes, a heart condition or cancer No Dropping Coverage Because of Illness No Refusal to Renew Coverage, if insured is paid in full and becomes ill No More Job or Life Decisions Made Based on Loss of Coverage No Need to Change Doctors or Plans, if happy with existing coverage No Co-pays for Preventive and Wellness Care No Excessive Out-of-Pocket Expenses, Deductibles or Co-Pays. Yearly Caps on Payments No Yearly or Lifetime Cost Caps on What Insurance Companies Cover The Myths: America's Affordable Health Choices Act (HR 3200) Myth: The bill rations care. FACT: There is absolutely nothing in the bill that would lead to rationing of care. In fact, right now, insurance companies are making those decisions for you. Myth: The bill ends private health insurance and crowds out employer coverage. FACT: The bill does not end private insurance. Instead, it sets up an insurance exchange with many private insurers and a high quality public option. You will get to choose which plan in the exchange you would like, as well as shopping and comparing options. The public health insurance option available in America's Affordable Health Choices Act would provide consumers with a choice and encourage innovation and cost containment, especially in regions where one or two private insurance companies dominate the market and could use a little competition. Myth: The bill includes damaging cuts to Medicare programs. Fact: Improvements to Medicare in America's Affordable Health Choices Act work toward making the Medicare program more sustainable for the future and will reduce Part B premium growth in the coming years. Myth: The bill promotes euthanasia---making Americans choose how they will die. Fact: Nothing could be further from the truth. America's Affordable Health Choices Act extends Medicare coverage to cover the cost of patients voluntarily speaking with their doctors about their values and preferences regarding end-of-life care----empowering older Americans on this critical issue. These are deeply personal decisions that take thoughtful consideration, and it is only appropriate that doctors be compensated for their time.

www.mtshastanews.com/news/x769902147/Congressman-Herger-calls-Obama-plan-threat-to-democracy"Obama plan threat to democracy" By Paul Boerger Mount Shasta Area Newspapers Fri Aug 21, 2009, Republican Congressman Wally Herger (from northern California) held a health care town hall at Simpson University in Redding, where a crowd of over 2,000 cheered him on. He said: “Our democracy has never been threatened as much as it is today,” We hear so much from the leftist movie star morons that we forget about the parts of California that are away from the big cities and are conservative. We have kindred souls in California and it is nice when I get to hear about them. I turn off my TV when some of those far left movie stars voice their venom.

Immigration Distrust on Health Bill by Ernest Istook www.humanevents.com/"Nothing illustrates America’s distrust of Congress quite like the illegal immigrant provision of the House health care bill, HR 3200." Read more at www.humanevents.com/There are loop holes in what Obama says about this. He is telling lies because illegal immigrants CAN and WILL and DO get free healthcare although Obama says they will not get tax payer benefits. He knows better than to say that. They are getting benefits now. Just look at the number of them who waddle into any hospital to have a baby. I know they aren't paying anything for it. All those hospitals in California had to close down because of too many non-paying customers---most being illegal immagrants. There is so much dishonesty in our government that I wonder how we are still standing! I think we would be so much better off if we sent a bunch of housewives to Washington to balance the budget and clean things up. They know how to do it and are experienced at living on a dime. They sure would do much better than all those lawyers, especially the career politician type lawyers with the right last names. I think you know what I mean.
