I am really wishing the police would BE something besides DUI officers. I know, and I am glad they enforce DUI laws,,,but our area, I really doubt they could do much of anything else.
Saturday,,this small, 70ish woman purchased a bottle of wine at our local liquor store. Within minutes,,there were 4 squads in the parking lot apprehending her and into the back seat, hauled away. Seems her parole officer followed her and called for backup for her violating her parole, by purchasing an alcoholic beverage. I mean,,c'mon,,,this woman was a real "threat". Surprised she wasn't tazed,,as this is another of the officers favorite tactics.

I know what you are talking about. Most of my design clients are on the Whitefish chain so this takes me up Highway 3 into Crosslake. I have heard so many horror stories about the cop there and his love of authority. At this point I will not drive even if I have had one brew. There is a stretch of 3 that runs by Pelican Lake that has a 45 mph speed limit. He can fill his quota any day of the week even though we know they do not have quotas.

There is a dramatic undercurrent of outright hatred of cops rapidly growing among our teen and even pre-teen population. All the over-policing, and agressive tactics are building a generation that distrusts, and genuinely despises them. But look at what they are, a collection of overboard jack boots with a "must win" attitude rather than an attitude of serving society. It doesn't bode well for the future.
A bit more on topic, I saw a gaggle of them outside giovani's running a dui-check Saturday. I bet the sales at pestello's were not so good that day! DUI (or other available) revenue for the city is the sole goal of an over-staffed local dept.
zero respect for them anymore. Their dash cams catch as many cops abusing people as they do crooks. I am all for non-erasable cameras on their uniform. After all, if they have nothing to hide, why would they object?
Then there is the subject of "for profit" prisons, and the motivation to fill them... but that is for a different thread.

I want Sheriff Joe to take over the nations police depts. and set up some rules and money saving ideas. The bad cops need to go. The bad kids need to be jailed. Period!!!!!! I do not care if they are young and have a whole life ahead of them. If you do the crime (cops included), do the time.
I also am mad that some of the Democrats want to release too many dangerous people. I heard Johnny Walker Lind (Jihad Johnny) was being talked about for release. "He's just a boy, you know, with a whole life ahead of him."
