Who was the first woman to have a bridge named after her in this country? Please give a little background information as well.

I will take a guess. Would it be Kate Shelly? She crawled across a huge bridge at Boone, Iowa, during a horrible storm to warn an on coming train that the train tracks were washed away ahead. I know that bridge has been named after her now and the story was an international story. I can't remember the date though. I do remember that that big trestle had all kinds of spikes in it to help keep tramps from trying to cross it an it was a big feat for her to have crossed it during that weather. It was at night too! It is a huge, high up trestle!

WHO SAID THIS ABOUT WHOM & WHEN?
My foe wants a crown. He plays upon questions of race, religion and hardships in America. He wants an election-day mandate to set the nation on what he called a plunge to socialism. He won't be satisfied with just an election. He wants total trust, love and power over your lives. He is the most power hugry man in American politics. Somebody must tell him that American votes can not be bought.

I assume it is about Obambi, therefore I am probably wrong. That would seem too obvious. I have no idea who said that. Was it Ronald Reagan about Jimmy Carter?

I think it is a statement that just about any Republican candidate could have said about any Democrat candidate. It was what Goldwater said in 1964 about Johnson.
I found an old album full of newspaper clippings at a second hand store and this statement came from one of the clippings---no date but it was in 1964 and the clipping came from the Des Moines Tribune..
That presidential race is what led me to be leaning towards being a libertarian. I loved Goldwater!! I lived in Texas at the time. It doesn't seem so long ago but when I think about how I was responsible for selling poll tax permits to people who wanted to vote, it does seem like a different era. I think poll tax was abollished after that. I still have my poll tax receipt in my collection of political stuff.
