wcco.com/politics/tim.pawlenty.budget.2.982656.htmlWASHINGTON (AP) ¯ A possible White House contender in 2012 said in the GOP's Saturday address that President Barack Obama and the Democrats who run Congress should lower taxes and hold down spending.
"Let hardworking American families keep more of what they earn by cutting taxes and reining in spending," said Gov. Tim Pawlenty, R-Minn. "It's just common sense." I agree. What do the rest o you think?

I thok this is more to further his political aspirations. As I do not support Pawlenty and was a Sullivan supporter...I dont believe Pawlenty is the answer to the GOPs need for a new Reagan.

I agree with what he said, but I'm not sure he is the best possible contender for the white house in 2012.

I absolutely agree that he is not the best contender. By all accounts he is a wonderful person and extremely likable but I don't see him as being able to take on *61 successfully. I also am not quite sure how fiscally conservative he really is. Having said all of that, he sure is far better than many of the other options, including what we have soiling the White House now.

I think Pawlenty is likeable...but I think we need more than that. Sarah pallin was my choice and still might be, but some in the GOP are already throwing her under the bus.
We need someone who is truthful, charismatic, a true conservative, and is willing to stand on principle without waivering....just like Reagan. I would prefer our next nominee to be a woman, but gender is not the only thing we need to beat Obama and the DNC lie machine.
We also need to reorganize the base, and adapt with technology. The democrats beat us 10 to 1 on the internet...and we need to do better. Obama didnt win the last election...we gave it away by letting politics come before our country. Our next nominee must be willing and able to relate to the American public...not some trust fund baby that has never worked to get where they are at.
And to me...they have to believe these things. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Abortion is murder. Israel is our best allie and we must defend her at all costs. Bigger government is a problem. Healthcare and health insurance are best left to the private sector. And taxes are the biggest detriment of prosperity of America.

I agree 100% on what we need for the next president. I'm not sure who is the best canidate yet. Does anyone have some other names to throw out there? I also like Pallin.

I was, am also a Palin supporter. The thing I didn't like was the feminists not backing her. There was so much sexism directed at her, I really believe the 2 things against her was her conservatism was too threatening to the liberal media and she is too good-looking,,now isn't that sad ? I am also anxious to see who 'steps up to the plate' from the Republican party in the next 2 years to really take control, but can also have the charisma, that unfortunately helped BO pull in votes, to draw a wider base of voters. It is a delicate balance to be the leader with the qualities mndapa listed, which I totally agree with, and also to have the 'captivating personality' that BO exhibited to draw the needed votes. I also believe the 2010 elections will really see how this country is leaning.

I still would like Bobby Jindal and Sara Palin or mItt Romney. I never understood why people cared about Romney's Mormon religion. They didn't care when someone had no religion other than the religion of SELF as in Clinton. In Oregon a poll said that 80% would not vote for a Mormon. That is so dumb. I guess this country is afraid he would force us all to be Mormons. The Democrats would complain no matter who we pick so you had better be prepared. Don't you know we live in a big kindergarten and behave like it?

Most people do not realize, polls a designed to desuade not persuade.
If the poll is not afforded to or attributed to an independent party, any poll and its results can be slanted to achieve its target.
Take for instance california. Thesecond most liberal, maybe most liberal state in the Union. When it came to prop. 8, poll upon poll showed that California supported same sex marriage and that mormons were the outcast class of conservative.
They did it so conservatives would stay home...luckily they didnt as the DOMA effort in Californai was smart and was not snared by the propoganda and the real facts. Polls by leading indpendent polls showed that a majority did not share the opinions of the homosexual minority...and won mind you by changing their state constitution to ban gay marriage!!! woohoo.
It is what it is. Although I disagree with a lot of the teachings of Mormons or the JCLS, I would not vote against Romney just because of it.

Bobby Jindal is a Roman Catholic. His family had been Buddists if I remember right.
