I patronize the local farmers markets whenever possible. Have you ever been to one in the Twin Cities? They are absolutely amazing. Many of the oriental community set up and you can get so many vegies and crafts that are not available here. Unfortunately I don't get down there often any more so I shop here whenever possible. It is important to help our locals and encourage them to continue with what they do. Thanks for posting the information.

while living in St. Paul I ventured to the market every weekend during the peak season. I love that market and any time I am in St. Paul in the summer on a weekend, I make sure to visit the market. I love it!
This market is coming together very swiftly and I am so proud to be a part of pulling it together! Hope to see you out at it

I live about a mile from Borden's Farm Market. I always notice that Great River Gardens from north of Aitkin and Borden's set up at all the area farmers' markets. You probably are aware of these two places, but I thought I would post them just in case you are not familiar with them. It might be worth contacting them.
The question I have will this be restricted to organic gardeners only? I have no knowledge of whether Borden's and Great River meet that criteria.

Yes,,one of my favorite times of year,, step outside now and feel the warmth of the sun, days getting longer. I love Minnesota and complain about winter like everyone does,,only occasionally though, because it makes spring so special. The outdoors activities as well as the chores of maintaining the yard, but planting flowers and watching everything green up is always special. We are blessed in this area.

Great River and Bordens are unable to make our market, sadly. This isn't restricted to organic growers, though chemical free gardening is always encouraged.

Well I like markets...but my family and I are growing enough in our garden to feed 11 families this year and enough sweet corn to have our own Corn Festival...but I dont charge for my veggies...I offer them for free because none of them can afford fresh veggies.
I would like to expand in years to come...but I only have so many hands to help out. I have 35 acres...but can only manage to plant one. Someday I hope to offer plots to people to grow their own food if they are willing to do their own work and they dont have a place to grow their own garden.
Would love to have time to plant berries too. I have plenty of apple trees....and need people that want apples in late summer or early fall that want so. We dont use chemicals and all fertilizer is homegrown and natural. If anyone who knows anyone interested..drop me a line.

I heard Rush say that land is the best commodity you can have. You can be self sufficient if the need arises. Funny thing how my 15 acres and a big beautiful house and barn is not selling. Every time we have a decent buyer, something else happens in the news to kill the deal. Now our wonderful Iowa governor has put a bunch of new rules for selling a house and the price is going down again. That used to be my retirement money but I guess I won't be getting any. We had moved to the new house on Aug. 7 and on Aug. 8 the first buyer backed out two hours before the closing. I should have taken him to court but I dont like that kind of thing and I really thought someone else would come around quickly. I have a mortgage and no money for my retirement. Darned that Acorn and all those people who ruined the housing market.
